Jim Landen

Having spent most of my working life in advertising and design, I’ve left behind the world of late lunches and even later nights to do what I love most: draw.

As satisfying as it was working with corporate clients such as Unilever, KPMG and De La Rue, eventually I ran out of corporate blue paint. So I’ve re-connected with the child within (happily never very far away), developed a more colourful palette and begun to focus on ideas and illustration for children’s books.

As with many illustrators these days, I use a graphics tablet and create my work in Illustrator and Photoshop. My style is warm and characterful, and uses little touches of wit to engage readers with new details on second and third readings.

I'm married with three children and a devoted, if slightly daft, schnauzer called Sid. When he’s not dragging me around Greenwich park and I’m not drawing or painting, you’ll find me on the drums or devaluing the house with power tools.
